Adult Day Program Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Program Assistant is responsible for the special service and care required for each Program member. Assist with member care and program / activity needs while providing a positive physical, nutritional and social environment for members, ensuring they feel safe and purposeful.

POSITION DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Create, organize, and facilitate therapeutic and purposeful, engaging activities allowing for relaxation, exercise, and socialization

Motivate and encourage members to become involved in activities

Initiate and lead small group, large group and one to one activities with members

Ensure that supplies for all activities are readily available and activities are set up for members

Provide medication, meals, and toileting reminders for members as needed

Assist with "household chores" and encourage participation of interested members

Ensure that all rules, regulations and safety practices are properly executed

Provide emotional support to members and family caregivers

Report any change in member’s health or condition

Demonstrate honesty, integrity, respect, and compassion in every interaction with members, peers and family caregivers

Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interactions with co-workers, members, families, and visitors

Maintain the confidentiality of all member and family information

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum of a CNA certification or HHA certification current and in good standing in the State of Massachusetts

Successful completion of on-the-job training, rendering competency in performance of required duties

Possesses current First Aid, and Heimlich certification, if required by state regulations
