About the role :
As a Director of UX for the Roundel and MarTech team youll serve a group of 10 designers and design managers responsible for both Roundel media and Target M essaging guest experience s and the ad-tech and marketing tech experience strategy human and agentic workflows and AI- driven innovation .
Success for this leader requires the ability to understand Targets priorities and partner with a broad set of stakeholders to establish design & experience direction. Day to day youll ensure your teams have what they need to thrive and deliver great work . This includes operating routines insights design direction partner awareness and a collaborative and inclusive culture.
You will build trust and proactively partner with UX Product Tech Data Science Marketing and Business leaders to set the stage for your team to achieve exceptional outcomes. You are curious ask questions and are driven to connect the dots. As an experienced practitioner within complex highly matrixed organizations you will seek to co-create strategies with cross-functional partners and believe we are better building on each others strengths while ensuring your team delivers high quality craft with efficiency and speed. You are adept at using data to articulate your rationale are a clear communicator can explain recommendations with authority and openness and are comfortable advocating for design with partners and leaders. You have a demonstrated ability to build relationships and create impact through multiple levels of leadership including other Directors Sr. Directors and VPs and can maintain both drive and patience throughout the journey.
As an experienced leader of people you will coach mentor and guide a team of people leaders and ICs helping them to grow and develop new skills while increasing trust transparency and engagement. You have a demonstrated ability to strengthen both your own team and the overall UX organization and can thoughtfully scale your team with the right structures roles and responsibilities. You are comfortable leading through change and ambiguity and building a community of practice in a remote world.
Responsibilities :
Define and drive experience vision and strategy for Roundel and MarTech Messaging
Develop roadmaps in partnership with cross-functional leaders and across cross-organizational priorities
Oversee scalable AI-powered multi-channel experiences and lifecycles including new personalized media and messaging formats
Oversee AI-powered end-to-end marketing and ad-tech platform workflows including CRM CMS campaign automation decisioning and bidding and performance management
Define service blueprints and UX success metrics to baseline and optimize both system and experience outcomes as well as enable AI-powered decision and agentic evolution
Prioritize across a multi-platform and multi-stakeholder roadmap using design leadership and co-creation methods to surface opportunities and guide tradeoffs
Grow the teams ability to create high-quality accessible usable AI-powered experiences that push Target forward
Evolve the organization composition assembling teams to successfully deliver on cross-area missions
Support the growth of UX managers on the team through 1 : 1s performance management and other resources
About you :
10 years of experience in UX / digital product design with a strong understanding of the craft of design
Foundational understanding of digital retail and ad-tech businesses
5 years of experience in people leadership with demonstrated experience in hiring leading and coaching high performing cross- geography or remote teams. Experience managing teams of 15 or more a plus
Experience working in large matrixed global or multi-national organizations a plus
Ability to balance short-term and long-term thinking while raising quality and team performance
Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the team from meeting strategic business or financial goals
Strong data-driven visual verbal and written story-telling skills with ability to bring partners along
Experience successfully managing many stakeholders through all phases of the design process
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as Flex for Your Day) work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member worksfull-time from home oran alternatelocation thats not a Target location does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid / Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
