Purpose
The Senior Data Analyst serves as a strategic partner responsible for delivering high-impact data analytics and insights for University Housing and Dining (UHD). Collaborates with senior leadership to define strategies and drive data-informed solutions. Leveraging advanced data visualization and analytical tools, the analyst transforms complex data into meaningful insight that drives informed action.
Responsibilities
Develops and maintains descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics and consumable reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools to provide University leadership and various stakeholders with necessary data to support decision-making. Applies advanced coding, Tableau, data visualization techniques, and other analytical skills to translate business logic and produce deliverables in response to routine and non-routine data requests. Engages in (and automates where possible) best practices for data-detailed activities, such as collecting, merging, cleaning, coding, validating, documenting, and updating datasets for analytical use. Supporting the UHD assessment needs through recommendation, design and implementation of tools and instruments. Assists with special projects and ad hoc data requests as needed.
Collaborate with senior management, stakeholders and colleagues to understand business needs, define strategies, identify opportunities and address key challenges. Ensure effective project management associated with data projects across the organization. Provide advanced analysis of existing data and structures, consultation, interpretation, and presentation of complex data environments. Develop innovative data-driven solutions for strategic decision-making.
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship for direct reports. Fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Assign tasks, set goals, and monitor progress to ensure timely and successful project completion. Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development efforts.
Ensure comprehensive documentation of data analysis methodologies, specifications, tools, processes, and outcomes. Deliver clear, concise, and actionable reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate analytical findings, key insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Generate annual mobility reports and incorporate results into longitudinal data streams.
Oversee regular reviews and audits to identify and address data integrity issues. Define, develop, and implement data and reporting standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of analytical findings and deliverables. Implement necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
Attend staff meetings and department meetings. Serve on committees as needed. Manage budget and expenditures. Perform related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in data science or related field.
2 years' experience with data analysis or reporting.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
3 or more years in reporting, analytics, or business operations.
3 or more years supervising and / or managing staff.
Experience working in reporting, analytics, or business operations within a university or state agency.
Experience leading projects from start to completion.
Experience presenting information to different audiences.
Experience building datasets and managing dashboards.
PMP Certification.
Proficiency in data visualization and analytics tools.
Strong knowledge of collaboration tools, like SharePoint or Confluence.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to multi-task and deliver under tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Range
$85,000+ depending on qualifications

Work Shift
Monday - Friday, 8 : 00AM -5 : 00PM, hours and days may vary based on business needs.
