Candidates must have heavy medical-surgical background.

Description :

This position is for a travel RN specializing in neurotrauma.

The unit has a total of 38 beds and a staff of 55.

The day shift typically has a ratio of 4-5 RNs to each charge nurse.

For night shift, there is usually 1-2 charge nurses depending on staffing.

The patient ratios currently run from 4 : 1 to 5 : 1 due to staffing challenges.

Equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps, seizure monitoring, Bi-PAP, C-PAP, and glucometers.

The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech.

Candidates must possess NIH certification and BLS.

A preferred qualification is ACLS certification and neuro experience.

Typical procedures performed on the unit include NIH / stroke assessments and neuro assessments.

Fall risk assessments, tracheostomy care, and management of feeding tubes are also common.
