Role Overview
As Head of Physical Systems & Robotics , you will own the vision and execution for physical infrastructure, from robotic hardware and manipulation systems to controls, perception, and high-throughput experimental platforms. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver physically capable, autonomous systems that integrate closely with AI and simulation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Vision & Strategy : Define and drive the roadmap for robotics, automation, and physical system platforms.
- Team Leadership & Growth : Build and lead teams across robotics, controls, perception, systems integration, and hardware engineering.
- System Architecture : Establish robust hardware / software architectures for complex physical systems.
- Integration & Collaboration : Work with AI, simulation, and software teams to ensure seamless integration between algorithms and physical execution.
- Operational Excellence : Implement best practices for reliability, maintainability, safety, and scalability of robotic platforms.
- Hands-On Innovation : Balance leadership with technical involvement in prototypes, design reviews, hardware selection, and validation.
- Risk & Safety : Set standards for safety, testing protocols, fault tolerance, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
MS / PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.10+ years of engineering leadership in building and scaling complex robotic or automated systems.Experience owning end-to-end physical systems, including motion planning, controls, perception integration, and hardware / software co-design.Strong track record of cross-disciplinary collaboration with AI researchers and software engineers.Excellent communicator and leader capable of motivating and aligning engineering teams.Bonus Points
Experience with high-throughput or autonomous experimental platforms.Prior work with digital twin or simulator environments tied to physical hardware.
