The purpose of this position is to safely prepare, load, block and tie down machines and parts for shipment via all types of transportation.

What To Expect
As a Shipper you will Prepare machinery and parts for transit via motor freight (common and specialized carriers), rail, air and ocean. Load, secure and document machines and/or parts in all types of ocean containers. This includes properly distributing weight, packaging and/or securing parts in crates, skids, rail cars and ocean containers to prevent damage while in transit. Responsible for scheduling safe, cost-effective transportation and processing accurate paperwork for outbound delivery of international and domestic shipments for all types of materials. Fabricate wooden crates and pallets for machines and parts. Work with carrier drivers to assist them as needed concerning their loads and explain the loading procedures as needed. Responsible for cleanliness and appearance of finished goods storage area, shipping area, and shipping trucks. Assist various departments with transferring machines to and from finished goods. Electronically and manually maintain documentation for production. Take initiative to identify, document, communicate and correct problems, report discrepancies and recommend solutions
Basic Qualifications (minimum qualifications):

Drive material handling equipment (i.e. counterbalance, turret, reach, picker), paving products.

Knowledge of rigging (attaching wire, rope, chains, hooks and clevises) for lifting heavy equipment and/or heavy parts.

Experience loading of heavy equipment and/or operation of semi-tractor-trailers
-
Experience loading and unloading a removable goose neck trailer (RGN)
-
Ability to fabricate wooden pallets and crates
-
Ability to read standard work and write continuous improvement cards
-
Ability to utilize computer/scanner for material movement transactions
Physical Requirements:

Lift up to 35 lbs frequently
-
Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts with minimal breaks

Work at multiple heights
-
Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices
-
Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, rotating
-
Use of hand tools including band cutters and box cutter
-
Operate material handling equipment (i.e. counterbalance, turret, reach truck, picker)
-
Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists
Environment:
-
Limited exposure to welding fumes and noise levels of 85db or greater
-
Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures

Work in tight spaces

Required Personal Protective Equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, bump caps and protective material handling equipment including safety/fall harness.
