Salary range :

The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $194,800. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See : Specialist Salary scales - REPRESENTED ; NON-REPRESENTED

Position description

Openings are anticipated between July 14, 2025 & June 30, 2026 in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of California, Irvine

Initial appointments are for one year & renewal is based on available support. Current faculty & research interests are :

J. Chan : Liver development / function, oxidative stress response, and cancer

L. de la Maza : Chlamydia trachomatis; immunopathology and vaccine development

D. Mercola : Promoter binding and activation profiles of cancer

E. Monuki : Brain development

E. Head : Brain Aging and Alzheimer's Disease

A. La Spada : Mechanisms of Neurodegenerative Disease / Neurotherapeutics

J. Lipkova : Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. https : / / octopath.org /

M. Rose : Neuronal Diversity, Omics, and Imaging in Brain Development and Disease

H. Park : Breast cancer, epigenetics, environmental exposures, and biomarkers

F. Rahmatpanah : Prostate cancer disparities, Ovarian cancer, Epigenetics, Human endogenous retroviruses in cancer

H. Mkhikian : Glycoimmunology in health, autoimmunity, and immune senescence; glycoproteomics and cross-linking mass spectrometry

P. Shah : Computational Medicine

A. Qavi : Conventional diagnostics through new optical technologies

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

(required at time of application)

Junior Specialists - Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.

Assistant Specialists - Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.

Associate Specialists - Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and / or public service.

Full Specialists - Appointees to the Full rank should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists at full rank are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field, professional recognition in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and / or public service.
