Description : Position Overview

Masterbilt Inc., a leader in precision aerospace manufacturing, is seeking a skilled and hands-on CNC Programmer – Mill (Supervisor) to lead and grow our Milling Department at our Phoenix, AZ facility. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in CNC programming and machining with strong leadership abilities to oversee a team of 3 machinists, optimize production workflows, and ensure precision, efficiency, and quality across all milling operations.

This position plays a key role in supporting our continued growth and commitment to excellence in aerospace and defense manufacturing.

Requirements : Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3 CNC mill machinists, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead daily production meetings, assign work priorities, and ensure all team members meet quality and productivity goals.
  • Provide hands-on technical support, coaching, and training to machinists to enhance skills and maintain safe, efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to recruit, onboard, and grow the milling team as production demands increase.

Programming & Machining

  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam (or equivalent CAM software) for multi-axis milling machines.
  • Set up and prove out new programs, tooling, and fixtures to ensure first-part accuracy and repeatability.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machining issues, making adjustments as needed to improve efficiency and precision.
  • Review CAD models, blueprints, and specifications to ensure all programs meet aerospace and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Work closely with the engineering and quality teams to ensure design intent and dimensional accuracy are achieved.

    • Process Improvement & Quality

  • Implement process improvements to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and enhance part quality.
  • Maintain documentation, setup sheets, and tool lists for repeat jobs to ensure consistency and traceability.
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts related to machining performance and nonconformance issues.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with company safety and housekeeping policies.

    • Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC programming and milling operations (aerospace or precision machining preferred).
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a production environment.
  • Proficient in Mastercam or similar CAM programming software.
  • Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, work offsets, and fixture design.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 , ISO 9001 , and aerospace quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Haas, Okuma, or Mazak milling equipment preferred.

    • Working Conditions

  • Full-time, first-shift position located at our Phoenix, AZ facility.
  • Primarily manufacturing floor environment with regular interaction between operations, quality, and engineering teams.
