Job Opening Summary

The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as an adjunct to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Director by providing supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. Assists the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Assists the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s). Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.

Required Education:
Associate's Degree. Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

For those responsible for the following departments, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced by 07/01/2019. New hires and transfers are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within 6 months of hire or transfer. Preferred Education:
BSN or BS in related health care field.

Necessary Skills:
Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards & Nursing Standards
Demonstrate clinical skills in nursing practice
Good customer service skills.
Basic computer literacy required.
Above average oral and written communication abilities.
Effective problem-solving decision making skills.

Required Licensure/Certifications:
•Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida

•BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.

•NRP is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: Code Blue Team (626003), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), 3N Obstetrics (650300), 3S Gyn-CC (650301), 6S NICU Level 3 (660400), Labor and Delivery (653100), Neo Natal Transport (663000), Normal Nursery-CC (653000), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).

•For those responsible for the following departments, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have STABLE by 07/01/2019. New hires and transfers are required to have STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer. •Effective July 1, 2018, existing employees have until December 31, 2018 to obtain the following life support certifications based on their assigned unit.

•Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).
