Regulation Agent 9-P11 - Special Investigations Section
This position is responsible for conducting criminal, civil, and administrative investigations pertaining to fraud and abuse involving Department programs including, but not limited to internal employees, driver licenses, personal ID, driver education providers, and vehicles. Investigations may result in administrative actions related to the Department's records and / or customers as well as criminal prosecution. The incumbent will assist in identifying fraud and / or abuse and make related recommendations to deter fraudulent activities on behalf of the Department. Investigations may require regular travel and include field visits to off-site locations. This position may be assigned to special investigative teams as necessary. This position is expected to promote effective communication and cooperation between other areas of the Department : local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies; regulatory agencies; businesses and the public.

APPOINTMENT TYPE / BENEFITS - This position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.
MDOSJOBS Required Education and Experience Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Experience Regulation Agent 9 No specific type or amount is required. Regulation Agent 10 One year of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent 9. Regulation Agent P11 Two years of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent, including one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10. Alternate Education and Experience Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement. OR Two years of experience as an investigator or detective in a law enforcement, US Armed Services, or private agency conducting criminal investigations or corporate investigations including fraud, embezzlement, and security threats may be substituted for the education and experience required at the entry level; three years of such experience may be substituted at the intermediate level; four years of such experience may be substituted at the experienced level, and five years of such experience may be substituted at the advanced level.

Position requires incumbent possess and maintain a valid driver's license, in accordance with agency's driving record standards. Due to Criminal Justice requirements for LEIN operators, position requires incumbent submit fingerprints for state and federal criminal background checks; qualify for access under the criminal conviction policy per the Federal CJIS Security Policy and Michigan addendum; pass the LEIN certification test and be certified within 6 months of employment or assignment; and retest / recertify every 2 yrs. Position requires incumbent be a United States Citizen and pass a thorough background investigation to comply with Public Act 7 of 2008, Public Act 23 of 2008, and the Memorandum of Agreement between the State of Michigan and the Department of Homeland Security. As part of the Department of State's continued efforts to produce secure driver's licenses and personal identification cards, state law (Public Act 7 of 2008) requires the Department to perform security checks on designated positions.
