[job_card.job_description]Must have a strong desire to work with a wide array of student (age, race, ethnicity, etc ). Be highly flexible and agile (we are living and working in a very dynamic time right now). Be highly collaborative, team- oriented and customer service driven. Master's degree in the field o f Special Education preferred. Either certified in mild to moderate special education or moderate to severe. Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, physical abilities include lifting / carrying / pushing / pulling up to 25 pounds. Stooping / crouching, reaching / handling / fingering, talking / hearing conversations, and near / far visual acuity / depth perception / color vision / field of vision.
Position : Special Education Teacher (Mod / Severe)
Position Details : This position will be working with elementary grades 2-4.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Ability to build good relationships with children, parents, Teachers and Social Workers
- Ability to work 1 : 1 or in small groups with students
- Ability to work well with children from different backgrounds who have different abilities
- Well-organized and self-driven to devise and adopt new techniques for teaching and keeping the student(s) on task
- Ability to manage challenging behavior
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Compassionate, kind and patient with kids
- Excellent leader and mentor for students
- Strong attention to detail and an inquisitive mind to understand each individual student
- Ability to assist students in meeting their academic goals as set forth in the IEP.
