Purchasing Clerk
We are looking for a skilled Purchasing Clerk to join our team in San Diego, California. In this contract-to-permanent position, you will play a crucial role in managing procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and maintaining effective relationships with vendors. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of purchasing processes.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct research on products, prepare purchase orders, and place orders with selected vendors.
- Evaluate quotes to ensure adequate quantities and lead times for equipment or parts.
- Analyze market trends, interview vendors, and recommend sources of supply.
- Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any backorder issues.
- Assess product utilization to determine cost-effectiveness of repairs versus replacements.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to maintain accurate inventory records and verify timely receipt of goods.
- Consult with suppliers to procure equipment meeting specifications while negotiating discounts or extended warranties.
- Establish vendor relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and create new vendor accounts when necessary.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery timelines to award contracts to suitable vendors.
- Work with the sales department to provide pre-sale information and conduct equipment searches.
Requirements :
Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, preferably with equipment or electronics.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Supply Chain Management.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Proven ability to negotiate effectively with vendors.Knowledge of purchasing functions and activities, including managing purchase orders.Familiarity with vendor management and logistics.Experience in maintaining accurate inventory and processing requisitions.Proficiency in analyzing quotes and market trends to make informed decisions.
