Job Summary
A Speech Therapy Externship involves supervised practical experience in a field setting, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills in speech-language pathology under the guidance of a qualified professional. This experience aims to provide real-world exposure and enhance clinical skills in areas like assessment, treatment planning, and patient communication. At Lyon-Martin, you will be working in a clinic that provides gender affirming health care services, and the focus of this externship will be providing gender affirming speech therapy for our patients.

Key Responsibilities :
Begin by observing a licensed SLP
Develop and implement therapy plans tailored to individual client goals.
Track client progress through detailed data collection
Assist in administering standardized and informal assessments.
Adhere to ASHA's Code of Ethics, HIPAA regulations, and Lyon Martin Community Agreements.
Engage in regular self-assessment and constructive feedback.

a. Create or adapt therapy materials and visual aids that are culturally responsive.
b. Organize resources for efficient session delivery and record keeping.
Demonstrate awareness and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, communication styles, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic statuses
Assist in conducting comprehensive assessments regarding voice history and assessment of voice. This may involve taking voice history, setting up, conducting baseline voice recordings through telehealth and in person, and using PRAAT to interpret findings under the supervision of a licensed (SLP).
