Position Summary
Nexus Health Systems is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow to join our interdisciplinary behavioral health team on a PRN basis. This position serves as the primary weekend caregiver in the behavioral health program for adolescents and children, providing high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical care, documentation, and basic medical assessment for each assigned patient during weekend coverage.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans.
Staff all cases verbally with the Medical Director at the end of the weekend.
Foster a culture of compassion, dignity, and respect in all patient and family interactions.
Address and resolve patient or family concerns in real time with professionalism and empathy.
Advocate for patient needs and ensure timely access to specialty and supportive services.
Support and guide staff in delivering culturally competent, patient-centered care.
Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Report and assist in investigating incidents or patient complaints as part of the risk management process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education :
Graduate from an accredited school of medicine
Experience :
Current Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow in an accredited fellowship program (second-year fellow preferred)
Licensure / Certification :
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in the State of Texas
Current BLS certification
Full and unrestricted DEA certification (or eligibility)
Board eligible / board certified in Psychiatry preferred
