Lead Diesel Mechanic

Position Summary

:

As a Lead Diesel Mechanic, you must perform maintenance and repair of various types of mobile equipment in company shops or on public roadways as necessary. As well as maximizing equipment availability using efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to various types of equipment including but not limited to: tires, ready mix concrete trucks and heavy construction equipment
• Able to diagnose defects in mobile equipment by operating and inspecting
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis
• Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, electronics, and other components of a concrete mixer truck
• Remove components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to: injectors, starters, water pumps, radiators, brakes, etc.,
• Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed
• Coordinate with location supervisor and review pre-trip truck inspections to prioritize work accordingly
• Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices
• Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment
• Order parts from Brannan Parts Department
• Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary
• Adhere to all Brannan and OSHA safety rules and regulations by wearing proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of working around large aggregate mines and equipment
• Welding experience a plus
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a Valid Driver's License
• Must have flexibility for overtime

Physical Requirements:

• Standing - 8 to 10 hours daily
• Walking - 8 to 10 hours daily
• Sitting – 8 to 10 hours daily
• Bending/Stooping - 8 to 10 hours daily
• Repetitive Movement (shoveling/sweeping) – 8 to 10 hours daily
• Lifting (weight up to 50 lbs.) - Occasionally
• Lift and Carry (50/60 lbs. for 20 feet) – Regularly
