Assistant Professor

We seek outstanding candidates conducting research in broad areas of interest which include (but are not limited to), computational modeling and simulation, neuro-technologies and neural engineering, biosensors, biomedical signal processing, machine learning, and image analysis, multi-scale modeling, translational computation. Outstanding candidates at the interface of computational biomedical engineering and scientific computing are also encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will have demonstrated the potential or already have established a highly competitive independent research program. The candidate must have an interest in developing collaborations with both basic science researchers and clinical investigators. The applicant’s research should include a clear pathway to commercialization or translational/implementation in human populations. The selected candidate will have a primary appointment at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with tenure home in the College of Arts and Sciences, and will have access to the resources at both UNC and NC State. This position will be provided a dry/computational/electronics lab and office space on the UNC Chapel Hill campus. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Electrical Engineering, or related areas, and have demonstrated excellent capability for scholarly activity during post-doctoral research. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Candidates will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate student education, and may teach classes in the areas of electronics, controls, biomedical instrumentation, neural engineering, physiology, or related classes.
