Job Description
At Distinguished Journeys, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of every family we serve. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where families can overcome challenges, thrive, and flourish. By fostering genuine connections, building trust, and providing tailored support, we ensure each interaction leaves a lasting positive impact.
We are currently seeking fully licensed therapists who are passionate about working with children and families with open DFCS cases. This role is designed for individuals who are not only clinically skilled but also committed to meeting families where they are. Services may be provided in-home, in-office, or virtually—whichever works best for the client and aligns with the DFCS case manager’s requests.
Please note : All Licensed Therapists at Distinguished Journeys are hired as 1099 independent contractors. This means you will not be classified as an employee and will be responsible for managing your own taxes and business expenses. This arrangement provides flexibility to accept or decline referrals based on your availability. However, once a case is accepted, we expect full ownership, reliability, and consistent therapeutic engagement with the family.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide therapeutic and counseling services in-home, in-office, or virtually, based on client needs and DFCS requests.
Use trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches tailored to the unique needs of each family.
Address areas such as emotional regulation, family conflict, communication, goal setting, and personal growth.
Support parents with parenting strategies while helping children / teens build coping and life skills.
Collaborate with DFCS, agency staff, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Document thorough and compliant case notes that clearly “paint the picture” of each session.
Qualifications :
Fully licensed in the state of Georgia (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent).
Minimum of 3–5 years of direct clinical experience providing therapy / counseling services (preferably with children, adolescents, and families).
Must carry professional liability insurance (Distinguished Journeys will reimburse part of the premium).
Strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills.
Access to a laptop to facilitate timely case notes and documentation.
Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to supporting families in vulnerable situations.
Compensation :
Competitive hourly / session rate, based on experience and licensure.
Mileage reimbursement provided for travel related to sessions.
Partial reimbursement for professional liability insurance premium.
If you’re passionate about providing therapeutic support and committed to helping families create lasting change, we’d love to welcome you to our team at Distinguished Journeys.
