Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit :
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University’s global strategy while supporting global activity across campus. The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs includes Global Education, Global Partnerships, the Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, Global Communications, the Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center, and the Global Affairs Business Office / Unified Business Center.
Position Summary :
The Administrative Support Associate position in the Programs area of the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (Global Affairs) will provide support as directed to the Associate Director for Exchange and Sponsored Programs and assist other members of the Global Affairs team with events and projects, as assigned by the Associate Director.
Duties include : Planning of logistics and on site support for exchange and sponsored program events held here on campus in Chapel Hill. Assist other units within UNC Global Affairs in various ad hoc duties including set-up and break-down for on-campus workshops, networking events, public discussions and receptions. Assist with various administrative duties such as archive and current document organization, information packet creation and spreadsheet creation
and other duties as assigned. Assist Dr. Erin Whitaker with the spring session of PWAD 250, must attend classes in person as directed by Dr. Whitaker.
This position reports to work in person at the UNC Fed Ex Global Education Center.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :
Candidates must have a strong academic background with excellent written and oral communications skills, and a high attention to detail. In addition, excellent organizational capabilities and a demonstrated ability to work independently on a variety of projects will be required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a university setting and demonstrated experience in successfully managing projects from start to finish meeting milestones and deadlines. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, and Teams.
Special Physical / Mental Requirements :
Candidates need to be able to move up to 20lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
Candidates must be available to work during normal business hours and be able to work in person on campus.
Event work may include evenings after 5 : 00 PM and weekends.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities :
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
