We are seeking a knowledgeable and meticulous Resident Project Representative (Construction Inspector) to join our team. The Civil Engineering Construction Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating construction projects to ensure they comply with design plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication skills to interact with project stakeholders.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of civil engineering construction projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities, drainage systems, and other infrastructure components.
- Serve the project owner as an on-site representative.
- Maintain a daily report of construction inspection activities.
- Complete financial administration duties of the contract, including creating, reviewing and / or approving project pay estimates and change orders and assisting the project owner with budget control.
- Ensure the project is built according to the plans and specifications.
- Examine finished installations to ensure conformity to standards.
- Perform and / or observe asphalt, soils, concrete and other material testing per INDOT standards.
- Assist with the coordination of utility relocation efforts.
- Serve as the liaison between the contractor and design firm.
- Serve as the liaison between the project owner and the general public by attending or leading public meetings, addressing public concerns and / or assisting with travel detour routes and closure notices.
- Host routine progress coordination and scheduling meetings as needed.
WHAT YOU NEED
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering or a high school diploma with related work experience in transportation inspection.Five (5) years of relevant, progressive experience in the civil engineering or construction management industry for supervisor role; Two (2) years of relevant experience in the civil engineering or construction management industry for inspector role.Successful completion or actively seeking completion of the six INDOT Certified Technician exams.Ability to travel up to 100 miles per day.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong ability to work with a team.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
