Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Mechanism Engineer in Midland, TX
Responsibilities for the Mechanism Engineer :
- Design, prototype, and test deployable hardware (hinges, releases, gimbals, actuators) using CATIA / SolidWorks / NASTRAN for satellite phased-array antennas, ensuring GD&T compliance and ESD / cleanroom standards
- Perform root-cause analysis (8D / Fishbone) on vibration, thermal, and TVAC failures; iterate prototypes with carbon fiber layups, FEA validation, and hardware troubleshooting to achieve mission reliability.
- Scale from one-off cleanroom builds to high-volume production (6 satellites / month target), owning manufacturing drawings, vendor coordination, and integration timelines with occasional travel to Cape Canaveral and suppliers.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams (mechanisms, structures, assurance) on end-to-end subsystem integration; mentor juniors and contribute to continuous improvement for constellation expansion.
