Medical Transportation Aide - 1st Shift

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education / Lead Teacher, the Medical Transportation Aide will :

• Help to maintain the cleanliness of the vans.
• Assist in the classrooms when not needed to transport according to the duties of a teacher aide, i.e., perform direct care of students and assist in providing students with ADLs.
• Cooperate and participate in internal investigations.
• Drive regular vans and wheelchair vans to transport students, their equipment and supplies to on campus clinics and / or to outside medical appointments.
• Safely and effectively lifting children and adults; weights vary but often exceed 100 pounds.

Other Requirements :

Must hold a valid driver's license for at least 6 months and be ready, willing and able to drive the Company's wheelchair and / or mini vans safely according to Massachusetts driving laws.

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience / specific skills in supporting children with developmental disabilities.

Each staff member must participate in a minimum of two hours per month in-service training to maintain compliance with state regulations (EEC and DESE) and to further develop the skills necessary for continued employment and advancement.
