Must be able to perform basic math; understand written procedures and standardized recipes, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include food safety and sanitation requirements, and basic kitchen utensils and equipment. Safe Food Handlers Course must be completed within 30 days of hire. Flexibility is required to work with others, potentially work at other schools in the district if needed, and ability to work around product availability. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Work on your feet for the entirety of the scheduled shift. Communicate well with others. Must be able to handle significant lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and / or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and / or illness.

Amherst Middle School Amherst Middle School is looking for two (2) AM Cafeteria Worker. The first position is open immdeiately, and is 5.5 hours a day- 9 : 30a,-3 : 00pm. The second position is 5 hours a day- 10 : 00am-3 : 00pm, and starts August 2025. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, this is the position for you! All the perks of working in a school district : nights, weekends, holidays, school vacations and summers off! Experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate. This position reports directly to the Chef-Manager.
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Preparation and serving of breakfast food and beverage items.
- Work along side Chef-Manager to complete preparation of items for lunch and the following day's meals.
- Help prepare the lunch line for service and help serve first lunch.
- Keep a neat, clean, and organized workstation that uphold the state and federal standards.
