Freelance Web Developer (Salesforce Commerce Cloud Expert)

Location : Remote

Contract Type : Freelance / Project-Based

Duration : Q4 FY25 – Now – December, possible option for additional hours in FY26.

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Freelance Web Developer & Designer with deep expertise in Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) to help design, develop, and customize e-commerce experiences in the B2B space. This role requires a strong grasp of front-end and back-end web development, UI / UX design, and the ability to implement custom-branded templates and Lightning Web Store (LWS) components within Commerce Cloud. Marketing and brand experience is preferred.

You’ll collaborate with our internal marketing and product teams to build visually engaging, high-performing, and user-friendly online storefronts that reflect our brand standards and drive conversions.

Responsibilities & Required Skills

  • Design, develop, and maintain e-commerce websites using Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC).
  • Build and customize LWS (Lightning Web Stores) and reusable templates for scalable deployment.This includes adhering to brand guidelines
  • Implement custom branding, UI / UX design, and responsive layouts across web and mobile. We are seeking a style guide and some additional guidelines for the site when making additions.
  • Integrate front-end components with back-end business logic and data models.
  • Optimize website performance, speed, and user experience. This includes mobile optimized websites and features.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, design, product) to align site features with business objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the SFCC platform.
  • Stay current with SFCC updates, best practices, and emerging e-commerce technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) development.
  • Strong knowledge of LWS (Lightning Web Stores), ISML templates, and custom cartridges in the B2B tech space.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), JSON, Node.js, and Java (back-end).
  • Experience with UX / UI design principles and ability to translate wireframes into responsive front-end code. Bonus if you have design skills to create the visual elements to be included.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data integrations (GTM), and Salesforce platform tools.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices, site performance, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote environment

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Headless Commerce or Composable Commerce architectures.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Experience Cloud or Marketing Cloud integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and agile workflows.
  • Background in graphic design or brand implementation is a plus.

    • Core Knowledge of Salesforce Commerce Cloud

    Understand the platform’s capabilities : Know what Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) offers in terms of B2C and B2B eCommerce solutions

  • Familiarity with its architecture : Be aware of how SFCC handles storefronts, integrations, and data flows.
  • Know the difference between B2C and B2B Commerce Cloud : These have distinct workflows and customization needs

    • Technical & Project Management Skills

    Basic understanding of web technologies : HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APIs

  • Testing and QA : Know how to validate features and ensure they meet business goals.

    • Business & Strategic Insight

    Ecommerce strategy : Understand customer journeys, conversion funnels, and merchandising tactics.

  • Omnichannel experience : Know how SFCC integrates with mobile apps, social media, and physical stores

    • Optional but Valuable Skills

  • Salesforce ecosystem familiarity : If your business uses other Salesforce products (like Marketing Cloud or Service Cloud), understanding how they integrate is a plus.
  • SEO and digital marketing basics : Helps ensure the site is optimized for visibility and engagement.
  • Security and compliance awareness : Especially important for handling customer data and transactions.
