Shimmick is seeking a talented Safety, Health & Environmental Manager in the Seattle, WA area to oversee occupational health and safety programs, analyze trends, and ensure compliance with regulations to safeguard a large project or all projects in the region. Your role involves providing technical expertise, conducting safety orientations and reviewing safety procedures. Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding / constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge in Long Beach, CA. Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following :

• Program Implementation & Compliance
• Under minimal supervision, manages, develops and implements SH&E programs.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA, USACE EM 385-1-1, etc.) and company policies.
• Support project leadership in implementing site-specific safety plans, activity hazard analyses, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Training & Certification Oversight
• Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training for employees and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate records of safety training, certifications, and compliance activities.
• Field Safety Leadership
• Supervise Environmental Safety and Health Specialists assigned to the same project(s).
• Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits; document findings and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Partner with supervisors and craft to identify and control hazards related to excavation, cranes, rigging, confined space, electrical and other heavy civil activities.
• Incident Response & Investigation
• Serve as first responder for workplace incidents; provide immediate first aid / CPR as needed.
• Lead root cause analyses and develop corrective / preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
• Mentorship & Culture Building
• Coach craft personnel and foremen on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
