Job Description
Andy Frain Services is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Armed Person Borne K9 Detection program. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the K9 / Security Industry. We are looking for a highly motivated retired law enforcement or military canine handler who is available for emergency response, standby duty, and client demonstrations—availability on weekends, holidays, nights, and overnights is essential.
Qualifications :
- Possession of a single purpose canine handler certificate or willingness to obtain prior to starting work.
- Possession of a dual purpose canine handler certificate or willingness to obtain prior to starting work.
- A minimum of three (3) years of law enforcement or military canine handling experience or similar, documented experience in a related field.
- Commitment to stay with the program for at least three years.
The selected candidate will be required to :
Care for and house the canine at home as per Andy Frain policies.Provide a secure outdoor area for the canine meeting specified requirements.Demonstrate a strong desire to work with and train canines.Show physical fitness to manage on-the-ground tasks, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and balancing with the canine and equipment.Responsibilities :
Maintain all required certifications set forth by Andy Frain’s Person Borne Gun Detection Course.Ensure certification with assigned canine is met for employment.Oversee the health, welfare, and training of the assigned canine.Keep detailed training and utilization records.Maintain annual canine certifications.Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years.Regularly check and upkeep the company assigned vehicle as per Andy Frain’s policies.Conduct searches as instructed exclusively with the assigned canine at designated locations.Assist as directed by management, clients, and law enforcement agencies.Ensure all canine-related equipment is maintained.Comply with all licensing and certification requirements related to firearms.Follow Andy Frain policies for armed employees, utilizing only approved firearms.Wear prescribed gear while on duty as instructed.Pass firearms training and departmental qualifications.Complete required assessments to qualify for armed work in adherence to Andy Frain's policies.Have suitable housing for the canine, ensuring ample space for a kennel and meeting safety standards, which will be inspected prior to selection.Display caution signs on properties housing canines as required.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry up to 90 pounds, including the assigned K9 over 50 feet.Endurance for extended walking periods.Capacity to climb, squat, bend, and kneel.Ability to kneel or squat for up to two minutes.Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling tools, operating equipment, and reaching is mandatory.Run a mile as part of fitness requirements.This job description provides an overview of the position and is not intended to cover all duties or responsibilities.
