Description :

The Interventional Radiology Rad Tech must have Neurosurgery / neuroscience experience.

This position offers 5-8 hour shifts with room for negotiation for a maximum of 4-10 hour shifts.

There is not a rotating shift schedule.

There will be 2-3 call shifts per month along with at least 1 holiday assignment.

The ideal candidate will have interventional radiology experience.

Typically, Radiologic Technologists from other modalities are trained for up to six months when starting in neuro IR.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently produces radiologic images of diagnostic quality.

Works cooperatively with all members of the department to resolve problems expediently.

Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.

Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient rights in all interfaces with patients.

AREAS OF EMPHASIS :

Administers oral contrast as needed per exam.

Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic / fluoroscopic examinations and assists the Radiologist during procedures.

Demonstrates competence and proficiency in the operation of all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems.

Reports equipment malfunctions to management.

Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to assist others with clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.

Understands the importance of maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.

Demonstrates competency in providing healthcare services in own job category to all age groups.

Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups.

DOCUMENTATION / INFORMATION MANAGEMENT :

Demonstrates competency in the use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.

Participates in performance improvement activities when warranted.

Maintains patient confidentiality using personal passwords and all patient care modules.

Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature while maintaining good phone etiquette.
