Full-Time Garbage Truck Driver City of Fort Wayne Schedule: MondayFriday | 7:00 a.m.4:00 p.m. (hours may vary)

What You'll Do

Be part of the team that keeps Fort Wayne clean, safe, and thriving. As a Garbage Truck Driver with the City's Solid Waste Department, you'll operate collection vehicles on residential routes and provide reliable service that residents count on every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate garbage and recycling trucks on assigned residential routes
• Collect trash, recycling, and bulk items safely and efficiently
• Empty public litter containers and return carts neatly
• Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Represent the City with professionalism and courteous customer service

What You Bring Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Indiana CDL Class B (required)
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical work outdoors
• Strong attendance, safety focus, and team mindset
• Good communication and customer service skills

Preferred Certifications

• Indiana CDL Class B with appropriate endorsements (as applicable)

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment
• Understanding of traffic laws and safety procedures
• Ability to follow routes, schedules, and operational guidelines
