Position Summary
and Responsibilities :
This position is with Missouri Connections Academy. From your home office in Missouri, certified Homeroom Teachers will serve as the primary point of contact for high school students and families. This position falls under the Counseling Department, with the sole purpose of helping students find success through strong connections and consistent communication.
Homeroom Teachers support students in navigating virtual learning, building habits for success, and understanding Missouri high school graduation requirements. They are responsible for onboarding late-enrolled students, maintaining regular contact, and ensuring each student knows how to access the people and resources they need. Homeroom Teachers may also teach a success course, which could include grading. Due to the nature of the position, additional student contact requirements apply.
The Homeroom Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks :
- Build and maintain consistent contact with assigned homeroom students and families;
- Onboard late-enrolled students, ensuring they transition smoothly into classes and school routines;
- Support students in understanding Missouri high school transcripts and graduation requirements;
- Help students connect with their content teachers and advocate for support as needed;
- Collaborate with counseling staff and other school teams to identify and assist students who are “at risk”;
- Oversee and maintain the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for each student;
- Support families through the school withdrawal process, assisting with data collection as needed;
- Report and refer critical incidents that jeopardize student well-being as obligated by law, administrative regulations, or ethical standards;
- Teach and grade a success course, as assigned;
- Collaborate with staff to share strategies that promote student success; and
- Other duties as assigned.
