Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, motivated Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of Public Works and DSA construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure project schedules, documentation, compliance, and coordination run smoothly. The ideal candidate has experience working within regulated construction environments and is comfortable managing project communication, documentation, and field support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, cost controls, and work plans.
Review plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure documentation aligns with project and compliance requirements.
Coordinate daily communication between project stakeholders, including owners, design teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
Prepare, track, and organize RFIs, change orders, submittals, meeting minutes, and other project documents.
Support procurement efforts, including vendor communication, quote collection, and monitoring material deliveries.
Ensure compliance with Public Works, DSA, and jobsite safety standards; verify documentation is properly recorded and maintained.
Attend site walks, progress meetings, and inspections as required; help resolve coordination or field issues.
Monitor project progress and assist in identifying schedule impacts or constructability concerns.
Participate in quality control efforts to ensure workmanship meets project expectations and regulatory standards.
Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists, O&M manuals, warranties, and archiving final documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Experience supporting Public Works and / or DSA (Division of the State Architect) projects is strongly preferred or required.
1–3 years of experience in project support, project engineering, assistant project management, or construction coordination.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical documents, and contract requirements.
Proficiency with project management and construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office; AutoCAD / Revit are a plus).
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly across teams.
Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for jobsite visits.
