Job Location Village Bakery - Fort Lauderdale, FL
- Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
- Prepare, clean, and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
- Come up with recipe ideas from scratch
- Prepare glazes, fillings, toppings, and other products per company standards and recipes given by the Executive Pastry Chef
- Plan the menu of desserts and pastry to complement savory items
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
- Calculate and scale recipes to determine the quantities of prep items needed on given production totals
- Oversee a team of junior pastry cooks and other staff members as necessary
- Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients
- Carry out administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace
- Handling and reheating food
- Will be required to work varying schedules that reflect the business needs of the hotel
- All other duties that are assigned

At least 2-year experience as a prep cook, pastry cook, or similar roleThorough understanding of basic pastry techniques such as mixing methods, making pastry cream, cooking the curdAbility to communicate with the public, hotel staff, and management in a professional mannerComputer and phone literacy requiredKeep supplies filled and maintainedClean up spills and maintain proper sanitationMust have the ability to bend, squat, and frequently lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbsAbility to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as neededA high school diploma is a plusAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
