The Professional Engineer (PE) will provide engineering support for crane operations and heavy lifting activities. This position is ideal for a licensed PE with strong structural or mechanical engineering fundamentals who is interested in specializing in crane and lifting systems. The company is committed to training the selected candidate in applicable crane standards, lift planning, and industry best practices. The PE will work closely with experienced crane professionals to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient lifting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to crane operations and lift planning
Assist in the development and review of engineered lift plans under guidance of senior staff
Evaluate structural capacity of supporting surfaces, foundations, and temporary works
Review crane configurations and verify load capacities using manufacturer data
Prepare engineering calculations, sketches, and technical documentation
Sign and seal engineering documents as required after internal review
Learn and apply applicable crane and lifting standards (ASME, OSHA, ANSI, etc.)
Provide technical support to operations, sales, and project management teams
Participate in site visits, pre-lift meetings, and safety planning discussions
Maintain organized engineering records and project documentation
Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals (statics, strength of materials, structural analysis)
Experience in construction, industrial, or heavy equipment environments is a plus, but not required
Willingness to learn crane standards, lift planning practices, and rigging principles
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Interest in cranes, heavy lifting, and construction engineering
Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software (preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with field and office personnel
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to visit construction sites and work in active field environments
Occasional travel as required
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
