The Clark County Building Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Building Inspector I/II position within the Field Inspection & Structural Inspection Units. As a member of our team, you will perform a variety of residential and light commercial building inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, local building codes, and adopted standards. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a career path that combines fieldwork, public safety, and technical code knowledge. The position includes on-the-job training (OJT) in inspection procedures and in-depth code training to support advancement and professional certification.
The Building Inspector I/II assigned to this unit will perform plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and building inspections of new and exiting residential and light commercial projects. Inspections are conducted to ensure compliance with reviewed plans, and locally adopted codes and standards. Structural Inspections: The Building Inspector I/II assigned to this unit will monitor, analyze, and provide guidance of special inspection activities on a wide array of medium sized to large complex projects. Candidates will be tasked with the monitoring of quality assurance inspectors performing inspections of soils, concrete, structural steel, welding, masonry, fire stopping, wood, and permit scope.
Valid ICC or other nationally recognized inspection certifications are required. Applications submitted without all valid ICC or other nationally recognized inspection certifications will only be considered for the Building Inspector Trainee. The Building Inspector Trainee is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Building Inspector I. The Building Inspector I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Building Inspector II. This is an open and continuous recruitment, scheduling dates will vary depending on when the application was received and reviewed by Human Resources.
