JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for coordinating with internal colleagues to implement and manage packaging, transportation, and procurement sustainability initiatives. These include progress toward our long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals; the implementation of additional sustainable practices throughout the Company; reporting on progress annually engaging colleagues through national and international initiatives; and continuing to mature our program through the development of KPIs and documentation of processes.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
- Build packaging sustainability strategy and approach in collaboration with our national and international colleagues.
- Assist with scope 3 GHG calculations and reduction processes, including supplier relationship development and auditing of supplier sustainability performance.
- Participate in the design and updating of standard operating procedures and tools for ongoing monitoring of KPIs and to support program advancement.
- Assist with developing and implementing colleague engagement efforts, including but not limited to educational trainings and supporting efforts from leading players in the sustainability program development space.
- Support new strategies and initiatives that advance sustainable procurement, operational efficiencies, and promote the Company’s carbon neutrality goals.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and other materials to advance key sustainability projects.
- Research and analyze sustainability and ESG trends among peers, clients, and other stakeholders; share creative ideas of how to integrate/improve program.
- Evaluation of sustainable packaging materials, sourcing of materials, and correlating economical, market, technical, operational, and other impacts
- With general direction, conducts environmental studies and prepares associated sustainability documentation (, feasibility studies, value engineering) of basic to high complexity.
- participates in the development of sustainability and mitigation plans.
- Meet with cross functional teams to discuss recommendations and implement plans, as appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Managing and/or contributing to carbon neutrality programs, calculations, and reporting
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, advising on best practices and potential tools.
- Participating in grassroots or employee-led sustainability efforts
- High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and maturity.
- Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities
- Ability to effectively project manage initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills; ability to manage complex processes.
- Strong execution skills, with ability to work independently while pursuing organizational and team goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation development skills
- Knowledge of life cycle assessment processes and an understanding of how to evaluate a product’s environmental footprint.
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a sustainability/ESG professional, or equivalent

Total Rewards Package:
Compensation:
- Base: $71,000 - $93,000 annually (CO), based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
