A full-time teaching position is available for a specialized educator serving students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) within a K-12 public school setting in the Clarksville, Tennessee area. This contract role supports students across elementary, middle, and high school levels, delivering tailored instructional services based on individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curriculum and communication methods as appropriate.
- Conduct assessments and collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize specialized techniques and technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and program effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and related service providers to coordinate supports and promote student success.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in best practices for DHH education.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education certification in Teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including sign language and assistive technology.
- Ability to manage varied caseloads and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
