Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans curriculum, lessons and teaching methods.
• Reports to appropriate special education supervisory staff and principals.
• Provides support and special education services to students in the ECSE program.
• Perform necessary assessment and evaluation procedures for special education students.
• Provide an individualized educational program for students based upon needs identified by evaluation.
• Follow necessary due process procedures and case management responsibilities.
• Facilitate inclusive opportunities when appropriate.
• Be an advocate for students and assist in carrying out department and school district goals.
• Collaborate with Early Learning and district colleagues, other specialists and outside agencies.
• Supervise and direct the work of non-licensed support staff in the classroom.
• Communicate with IEP team members and families/caregivers.
• Active engagement in professional development opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree
• Current Minnesota Early Childhood Special Education license

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for students who are wheelchair-bound and students with other special needs.
