Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Field Piping Jr Designer I / Tech Professional I to join its Projects business unit, supporting brownfield surface facilities retrofits, expansions, and debottlenecking projects, primarily focused on the Mechanical Engineering Design needs in the Permian Basin.

This opportunity is onsite, based in Midland, TX, and is ideal for candidates who thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Piping Department Manager as well as the Project Team Field Lead. Field walkdown capability and some experience of O&G facilities is preferred. If you have a Mechanical / Piping background, great CAD and Design skills, and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. Responsibilities

• Prepare Mechanical and Piping drawings using 2D and 3D Cad tools.
• Layout of Process equipment systems using 2D and 3D software packages to produce drawings from concept through construction issue.
• Design and modeling of piping systems using 2D and 3D CAD software packages and produce drawings.
• Formulate design solutions and layouts of Mechanical and Piping components utilizing P&ID's, Vendor documentation, and piping material specifications.
• Coordinates design with other piping team members and with other disciplines.
• Design or select pipe support components as they pertain to piping design layouts.
• Evaluate vendor equipment as it pertains to layout designs, assist with equipment specifications and orientations.
• Examine and validate drawings for quality and compliance.
• Examine, validate and coordinate other discipline designs for compliance with layouts.
• Work with laser scanning vendors to get "as-built" information and work into design.
• Visit Client plant sites to evaluate design options and take necessary site measurements.
• Adhere to Company and Client specifications and standards.
