COFFEE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

Job Description

Custodian

Responsible to : Principal

Head Custodian

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Exhibits appropriate communication skills
  • Meets necessary health and physical requirements in order to fulfill the physical demands

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Maintains all buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas

    • neat and clean at all times

  • Assists in maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand
  • Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures

    • appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and

    electricity

  • Follows proper safety procedures to maintain the security of the building and grounds
  • Performs minor building repairs
  • Reports major repair needs promptly
  • Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash

    • and waste

  • Knows and follows all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the job of

    • custodian

  • Participates in required annual safety training
  • Works in conjunction with district maintenance personnel to maintain building needs
  • Demonstrates positive customer service skills

    • General Requirements :

  • Follows Federal and State Laws and adopted policies and procedures in accordance

    • with School Board priorities

  • Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest

    • standards of public education and in support of the District's Vision / Mission
