POSITION: ACS Design Engineer

DUTIES: Responsible for designing and modelling distribution and transmission electric lines for Aerial Spacer cables as well as conventional cables using PLS CADD, PLS POLE and PLS SAPS. Perform structural analysis to accurately size the support structures to meet the load requirements. Create a complete design package for a distribution or transmission line, which includes the circuit design, Bill of Materials, and estimated cost of the project. Leverage experience and knowledge of NESC, NEC, CSA and GO-95 standards to ensure design is the most optimal solution while adhering to the code. Prepare drawings and documentation or bid packages for design and construction of projects. Assist customer with guidance on the Aerial Cable system, the components, as well as the correct installation techniques of the spacer cable. Work with internally developed software for generating Proposals and Bill of Materials. The ACS Design Engineer will also support the sales team with business development efforts. Assist R&D team with design improvements as well as new product design and testing. Proficient with following software and concepts: OCalc, SAG10, Solidworks, AutoCAD, PLS CADD, PLS POLE, and Ansys and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T). Domestic travel is required 10% of the time for training, installations, and customer visits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Must have experience in overhead distribution line design.
• Must also have experience with each of the following:

Designing and performing structural analysis of electric distribution and transmission poles and pole lines using PLS CADD software and O’CALC; Creating Proposals and Bill of Materials using internally developed software based on customer requirements; Designing pole lines with adherence to the NESC, NEC, CSA, and GO-95; Corresponding with clients during and after design process to perform design reviews, offer design solutions, and make modifications as per changes in scope of work.
