Un-Armed Security Officer – Job Description

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment across the entire property. This includes conducting regular patrols, monitoring activities, and responding to incidents to ensure the safety of all personnel, visitors, and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Regular Patrols: Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout the entire property, including:

Two parking structures

Multiple surface parking lots

Exterior areas of the building

Surveillance and Monitoring: Remain vigilant during patrols, monitoring for suspicious activity, safety hazards, or any violations of property rules and regulations.

Hourly Tag Scans: Complete scheduled electronic tag scans at designated checkpoints across the property every hour to ensure coverage and accountability.

Daily Activity Reporting: Document all observations, activities, and incidents in a detailed Daily Activity Report (DAR) using the company’s reporting system. Reports must be accurate, timely, and professionally written.

Access Control & Visitor Management: Monitor and control access points Mon-Fri to prevent unauthorized entry into parking structure.

Emergency Response: Respond promptly to alarms, accidents, and emergencies (medical, fire, or security-related). Follow proper protocols and notify appropriate personnel or emergency services when required.

Customer Service: Interact professionally with tenants, employees, and visitors. Provide assistance and support while maintaining a visible and approachable security presence.

Incident Documentation: Complete thorough incident reports when necessary, including detailed descriptions, involved parties, and any corrective actions taken.

Property Integrity: Inspect doors, windows, gates, lighting, and other safety equipment during patrols. Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate department.

Requirements:

Prior experience in security preferred

Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and perform physical patrols

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with basic computer systems and reporting tools

Must be detail-oriented, observant, and able to work independently

Valid guard card/license as required by local laws
