Position Overview:

This position will work up to 15-30 hours per week. Occasional travel is required June through early August, with visits to the council’s various camps and gathering places throughout the Chicagoland area.

Compensation:

• $25 an hour

Responsibilities:

• Review and summarize current camp medical reporting and administration procedures.

• Identify opportunities to automate camper medical registration processes.

• Explore options for automating the management and documentation of on-site medication disbursement.

• Develop comprehensive, council-wide policies and procedures for camp health practices that ensure consistency and effectiveness.

• Communicate with camper families to ensure timely completion of required medical forms.

• Review camper medical information for accuracy and compliance with provided guidelines.

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or equivalent healthcare credential in the state of Illinois; preference given to applicants with a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license in Wisconsin and/or Indiana

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

• Experience in pediatric, school, public health, or camp nursing strongly preferred.

• Ability to assess and respond to health concerns, administer medications, and manage medical documentation in compliance with state and organizational standards.

• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to coordinate with caregivers, staff, and healthcare providers effectively.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor camp environment and traveling between multiple sites.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA regulations.

• Experience supervising or training staff in health-related protocols is a plus.
