JOB SUMMARY
Performs manual and semi-skilled work independently and assists Lead Groundsperson in the repair and general maintenance of grounds athletic grounds and school facilities to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Clears grounds and fence lines by felling trees and removing debris and poisonous plants.Assists in dragging spreading preparing and leveling playing surfaces and fertilizing aerating seeding of athletic fields.Performs maintenance and repairs on artificial turf.Prepares athletic grounds for games meets and athletic contests.Assists in the repair and maintenance of concrete and asphalt walkways and roadways.Erects repairs and maintains chain link fences.Assists in the inspection maintenance and repair of playground equipment.Operates mowers tractors grounds care equipment / operates truck with trailer.Participates in snow removal.Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.Experience

Ability to be trained and retain knowledge of landscaping and care of plants transplanting pruning trees shrubbery and flowers asphalt brick and cement repairs to walkways driveways and storm drains.Strong customer service skills in a team environment.Ability to meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.Ability to employ business technology tools (e.g. E-mail AACPS Intranet electronic benefits enrollment tool Microsoft Office Suite etc.).Provides basic hand tools.Satisfactory score on any tests required.Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses certifications and enrollment as a condition of employment.
Upon hire Drivers License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA / DMV) required; andHold or be eligible for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A issued by Maryland or State of Residence Department of Transportation (DOT) preferred; orHold or be eligible for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A (Maryland) issued by Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) preferred.Proof of a good driving record required.Driving Requirements

Qualification Requirements for Employment in Higher Grade as a New Hire or Transfer requires :
Two (2) additional years of successful experience in construction landscape or grounds maintenance required.Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A or Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A (Maryland) required.Demonstrated knowledge of grounds maintenance methods and procedures required.Eligibility for Consideration for Advancement from Lower Grade to Higher Grade requires :
Two (2) years continuous successful experience in the position at the Lower Grade level.Mastery of all responsibilities and duties of the position.Achievement of Professional Certification License or evidence of course completion in pursuit of such certification or license if applicable.Evidence of completion of additional training that may be recommended by supervisor and / or participation in approved professional development programs or courses approved in advance by the supervisor. Successful completion of a minimum of one professional development within the last two years is required.
