Assistant Controller
Minimum 5+ years experience in Accounting & Financial Reporting
Venteon is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to fill an opening with an Industry Leader and Employer of Choice with headquarters in the Metro Detroit area.
The Assistant Controller will support Accounting & Finance leadership in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, driving accurate and timely financial reporting, and strengthening internal controls and processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on senior accountant or accounting manager ready to step into an Assistant Controller role with strong mentorship and visibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master s degree a plus.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes.
- CPA strongly preferred (or actively pursuing) to support banking and governance expectations.
- Experience with a major ERP system; prior exposure to an ERP implementation (Oracle or similar) is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel with the ability to work with complex reconciliations and financial data.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with leadership, operations, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial results.Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP and internal standards.Oversee general ledger activity, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and review of key balances.Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including analytical review, variance analysis, and reporting to leadership.Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.Partner with internal teams and external auditors to support audit activities, tax-related information requests, and regulatory reporting.Contribute to the successful implementation and ongoing optimization of a new ERP system (Oracle), including process redesign and testing.Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior accounting staff, helping to develop talent and improve overall team performance.If you are a high performer and would like to work for an equally high performing company and you think the above opportunity is appropriate for you, we invite you to apply to this job and email your resume to amatles@venteon.com .
