Setup Operator

About the Role :

The Secondary Operations Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating secondary production equipment to manufacture precision metal components according to engineering specifications and quality standards. This contract to direct role supports efficient production by ensuring accurate machine setups consistent output and adherence to safety and lean manufacturing practices. The position is ideal for a mechanically inclined manufacturing professional who thrives in a hands on production environment.

Responsibilities :

Set up and operate secondary equipment including presses drills tapping machines deburring equipment and assembly fixtures.

Perform tooling changes machine adjustments and setup verification to ensure accurate production runs.

Read and interpret blueprints work instructions and job travelers to ensure parts meet specifications.

Inspect finished parts using calipers micrometers gauges and visual inspection techniques.

Maintain production rates while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Perform basic machine maintenance cleaning and housekeeping tasks.

Identify and report equipment malfunctions quality concerns or production issues to supervision.

Follow all safety procedures PPE requirements and company policies.

Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Qualifications :

High school diploma or GED required.

One to three years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

Experience setting up and operating secondary production machines preferred.

Ability to read blueprints and use basic measuring tools accurately.

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced manufacturing setting.

Desired Qualifications :

Experience in precision machining or metal manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with quality inspection processes and documentation standards.

Ability to assist in training or mentoring other operators.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as required in a production environment.
