Markey’s provides creative as well as event technology solutions for client events at the Austin Renaissance Hotel. We are currently hiring for an Operations Manager to join the team. The Operations Manager manages all day-to-day activities regarding event technology services at the Renaissance Austin. This person will also manage and lead the operations team to ensure successful events. They will be the final authority regarding equipment at the Renaissance Austin as a technical expert and inventory controller.
This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) role. Typical daytime hours, although occasional early mornings, late nights and weekend work will be required based on the event.
Position Responsibilities
- Supervise all elements of the day-to-day event technology operations at the hotel.
- Assist with coordinating equipment, technician orders, scheduling, and inventory control.
- Prepare weekly A / V technician schedule to ensure all events are serviced efficiently and effectively. Request and manage technicians from other locations as needed.
- Provide work direction to employees and follow-up with them to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Review daily sheets to ensure all functions are set and run smoothly.
- Effectively handle client equipment and labor changes daily.
- Work closely with Markey’s sales staff, and attend event order review meetings with hotel.
- Troubleshoot and fix problems with A / V systems and other event technology services as needed.
- Foster positive working relationships with Marriott hotel staff, clients, and event planners.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring and training of new operations employees.
- Supervise operations team, effectively handling all personnel issues, and support and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure success of Markey’s events.
Requirements
Strong A / V skills involving operation, set-up, troubleshooting, problem-solving and explanation of equipment. Experience with rigging, lighting, sound, video, power and labor coordination.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all internal and external customers.Ability to manage A / V technical staff and all work processes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment, and to delegate work as needed.Must be able to handle stressful situations and lead by example.Computer proficiency and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and One Drive. Ability to learn R2 program.Ability to always maintain a professional appearance and attitude, including the willingness to adhere to Marriott’s appearance and grooming standards.Ability to work as part of a team, understand the client’s perspective, and have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.Must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs.Always display cooperative demeanor with hotel staff and clients.Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.Become a part of our team!
