Experience, Skills, and Education Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in forklift operation or material handling are a plus.
• Proven experience as a Dock Cylinder Operator or in a similar material handling role, preferably within an industrial gases and welding supply distribution setting.
• Valid forklift operator's license and demonstrated proficiency in operating forklifts or other handling equipment.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to the handling of industrial gases and hazardous materials.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy gas cylinders, sometimes with the assistance of handling equipment.
• Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills to identify cylinder defects or damage.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication and collaboration with team members and other departments.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain accurate documentation and keep the dock area orderly.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Dock Cylinder/Filler Operator to join our team at an industrial gases and welding supply distributor. As a Dock Cylinder/Filler Operator, you will play a crucial role in our distribution center's operations by ensuring the safe handling and movement of industrial gas cylinders. Your dedication to safety, attention to detail, and efficient material handling will contribute significantly to our company's commitment to delivering high-quality products to our valued customers. As a Dock Cylinder/Filler Operator, you will be responsible for handling the loading and unloading of gas cylinders and related products onto and from delivery trucks and cylinder filling areas at our distribution center. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the proper handling, storage, and documentation of cylinders in compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate should have experience in material handling, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining a well-organized and efficient dock operation.

Detailed Responsibilities:
1. Cylinder Handling: Safely load and unload gas cylinders and related products onto delivery trucks using appropriate handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand carts, and assist Operations and Customer Service with delivery to and/or attention to customers as needed.
2. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines for the handling and storage of industrial gases, including the proper securing of cylinders during transportation.
3. Quality Control: Inspect cylinders for damage, leaks, or defects during the loading and unloading process, and report any issues to the supervisor.
4. Documentation: Accurately record the details of incoming and outgoing cylinders, including quantity, product information, and customer-specific requirements.
5. Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient inventory of gas cylinders in the distribution center. Conducts cycle count inventories of cylinders and /or products.
a. Scan loaded trucks daily using TrackAbout barcode scanning system before truck departs from SYOSXA.
b. Review and sign truck load sheet before driver leaves and after driver returns to ensure cylinders physical count is accurate. Daily
c. Scan unload trucks using Track about system after trucks arrive at SYOSXA, and audit with Customer Service Representative to ensure cylinder count is accurate. Daily
6. Cylinder Maintenance: Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify cylinders that require testing, requalification, or refurbishment. Responsible for valve cylinders, replace hand wheels, paint, etc.
7. Material Movement: Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure timely movement of cylinders to and from the storage and fill cylinder areas.
a. All empty acetylene cylinders must be prepared and be ready for pick up by third party vendor before every Thursday.
8. Hazardous Material Handling: Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, such as labeling, storage, and emergency response protocols.
9. Quality Assurance: Assist in periodic cylinder audits to verify accurate counts and check for compliance with safety standards.
10. Communication: Maintain clear communication with the warehouse team, drivers, and other personnel to ensure efficient loading and unloading operations.
11. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections of handling equipment, report any malfunctions or issues, and ensure proper maintenance.
12. Safety Training: Participate in safety training sessions and stay up to date with industry best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
13. Operations: Fill Medical and Industrial high pressure gas cylinders, fill liquid cylinders, and tube trailers in compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations. Must follow and comply with all required regulations. To include but not limited to FDA requirements for Food/Medical gases filling & pos-filling quality process and takes care about filling reports for all gases and keeps files in order and up to date.
