Job Description

The Senior Business Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing and implementing institutional business processes which are optimized to support the growth, service level, and cost performance needs of the individual schools and functional shared services of the university. The Senior BPE's primary focus is to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and ensure the alignment of upstream and downstream business processes with the institution's strategic goals holistically. The Senior BPE works to identify critical areas for process improvement, propose people/process/technology solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the university. They will work closely with Project/Program/Portfolio Managers, Finance, Institutional Analytics & Research (IAR), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or Process Owners within the identified business domain(s) and Product Managers, Systems Engineers, Enterprise Architects on the EdTech team to drive detailed redesign as well as re-engineering of current state processes, and to lead the establishment of brand new, breakthrough future state processes to ensure the university's fulfillment of our student obsession mission and key results. The Senior BPE will be directly involved in the largest and most important strategic transformation projects.

The IPM department is part of the CFO org and is responsible for driving strategic execution and transformation across the WGU System. We manage portfolios of enterprise initiatives that align with WGU's 5-Year Strategic Plan-connecting strategy to action. Our work enables leaders to execute bold, system-wide change by:

• Lead transformation projectssuch as WGU's BPM maturity evolution - moving from Lucid to SAPSignaviotoestablisha centralized source of truth for all university processes.
• Own andoptimizeentire student journey domains, taking accountability for 1-2 areas at a time and delivering measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and outcomes.
• Shapeenterprise alignment, partnering with leaders in EdTech, Finance, and Institutional Analytics to create a unified, forward-looking process portfolio and strategy.
• Harness analytics and AIto uncover process insights and create a nimble architecture that accelerates decision-making and execution.
• Influence at the highest levels, presenting findings and recommendations to executives while driving buy-in across stakeholders.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshopsthat clarifywhat'sbroken, surface opportunities, and move teams toward solutions that matter.

WhatYou'llBring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering(industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, service systems, chemical, aerospace) or a closely related field.
• Lean Six SigmaBlack Belt certifiedor equivalent continuous improvement background.
• 3+ years of experience in business process engineering, improvement, or continuous improvement roles.
• Strong business acumen (finance, analytics, ROI quantification).

Bonus Points If You Have

• Master's degree (Business Administration, OperationsResearch, Data Analytics, Engineering Management) or a closely related field.
• Experience with BPM tools (SAPSignavio,Lucidchart, or equivalents).
• Experience in business architectureand process classification frameworks(taxonomy,TOGAF, APQC, ArchiMate, businessprocess standards such as BPMN).
• Experience with TQM and statistical processcontrol techniques(e.g., Minitab).
• Experience withdata analytics tools likeTableau/Power BI for visualization&insights.
• Experience workingwith Product and Software Development teams (SDLC,Agile,etc.)
