Cloud Security Engineer
Compensation : $130,000–$150,000 base + bonus + equity
Location : Santa Ana (Hybrid)
About the Role
The Cloud Security Engineer will enhance and protect evolving cloud and on-prem environments. This role plays a critical part in strengthening enterprise security posture, modernizing infrastructure, and safeguarding sensitive data across a mix of AWS, Azure, and virtualization platforms.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on cloud security experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and business teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design secure cloud architectures and implement data protection measures across cloud-based systems and services.
- Leverage AWS and Azure native security features, tools, and best practices.
- Manage and optimize enterprise security technologies including CNAP, CSPM, SIEM , vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and related platforms.
- Apply security frameworks and standards such as NIST 2.0 and CIS benchmarks.
- Monitor for threats, triage potential security incidents, and develop and maintain incident response procedures.
- Partner with development, BI, and IT infrastructure teams to embed strong security controls into all systems and processes.
- Perform updates, upgrades, and maintenance on infrastructure services and business applications (including after-hours work as needed to minimize impact).
- Use programming / scripting languages such as Python , PowerShell , and Linux command-line utilities for automation and troubleshooting.
- Support Windows servers and Active Directory administration.
- Support Nutanix and VMware hyper-converged infrastructure environments.
- Maintain endpoint and access security solutions including EDR, MFA, and DLP.
- Support Citrix remote access and Blackberry mobility solutions.
- Manage enterprise-level data backup and replication platforms.
- Take full ownership of issues from identification through final resolution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.2–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in cloud and infrastructure security.Strong understanding of cloud security principles and architectures.Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure .Cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security , CCSP ) highly preferred.Personal Attributes
