Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Occupational Therapist Overview

Provides clinical occupational therapy for Melmark individuals.

Schedule and Salary Information

  • Monday- Friday 8am-4p
  • fully on-site
  • Starting Salary : $70,720.00 (+)

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Current Pennsylvania license for occupational therapy and NBCOT registration.
  • A valid U.S. state driver's license with a minimum of two years driving experience and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of obtaining approved Melmark driver status.
  • A minimum of two (2) years occupational therapy experience preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in related field preferred.

    • Occupational Therapist Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the client's ability and formulates the individual's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observations, checklists, histories, and interviews.
  • Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet the individual needs and to help the client function as independently as possible.
  • Records progress of each individual receiving occupational therapy on charts. Evaluates information and makes appropriate recommendation for continued, modified and revised occupational therapy treatment.
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate client participation and occupational performance.
  • Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on client needs and evaluation results.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offers recommendations, and develops plans and interventions to achieve IEP, IPP, and ISP goals.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of client's occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning and service delivery.
  • Teaches, monitors and collaborates with treatment staff to increase understanding of the client's occupational performance.
  • Provides assistance to individuals and staff on the use, care and maintenance of adaptive equipment. Educates Melmark staff on adaptive equipment and problem solves when necessary.
