Summary :
Work with the Transportation Area Manager and other office staff in the daily coordination and operation of the assigned transportation area. This individual will have direct contact with the Area Transportation Manager involving receiving instructions and guidance as well as relaying critical information concerning drivers, area staff and equipment status.
Responsibilities include direct contact with the transportation area office staff, school staff and community regarding administrative activities such as responding to requests, conveying operational information and bus schedule changes. This individual will work closely with the Senior Operations Technician to ensure that transactions involving staff hiring and hour changes are handled appropriately as well as payroll.
Essential Duties :
- Perform administrative functions including correspondence, data collection and comprehensive report development, scheduling of appointments, meetings and training, filing.
- Perform daily payroll functions; work with area staff to collect any missing information that is needed to complete the weekly payroll for the assigned area.
- Prepare payroll for hourly employees within the assigned transportation area for submission to the Transportation Area Manager for review and approval.
- Coordinate with the Transportation Area Manager, Quality Support Technician, and Lead Drivers in the assigned area to identify the need for substitute bus drivers and work collaboratively to ensure daily bus coverage.
- Respond to transportation issues, complaints and requests from schools, parents by providing professional and courteous customer service.
- Update system information including driver personnel data, absenteeism, and related statistics at the direction of the Transportation Area Manager.
- Utilize the Transportation Information Management System software to provide information to schools, parents and drivers regarding routes and stops. Ability to read and explain various TIMS reports.
- Communicate with schools and other departments regarding vehicle breakdown, accidents, delays, and student issues.
- Communicate with parents regarding delayed buses, bus no-shows, and student issues.
- Assist in the preparation of material including agendas, information packets, and slides for Area Safety meetings and on-going driver training.

Education and Experience :
Minimum
High school diploma or G.E.D.1 - 2 years clerical / secretarial experience or training in Office Administration or a related experience.2 - 3 years customer service experience.Computer experience (Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, etc)Desirable
Associates or Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in business, logistics and / or transportation managementSupplemental secretarial course work.3 - 5 years pupil transportation experience in a direct customer contact related position.Licensing / Certification Requirements :
