About the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University
The Wallace H. Job Summary

The Laboratory for Synthetic Immunity (LSI) led by Dr. Gabe Kwong is in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory School of Medicine. We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician. The technician will be responsible for maintaining animal colonies, viral production, and lab administration (e.g., supply ordering). Depending on the candidate, the responsibilities may also include standard cellular assays, (e.g., cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction), molecular assays (ELISA, PCR, bioconjugations), and animal work (e.g., tumor injections, necropsy, blood draws). The technician is expected to work closely with other lab members and contribute to managing day-to-day operations as related to job duties. Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records..

Job Duty 3 -
Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Job Duty 4 -
Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation.

Job Duty 5 -
Participate as directed in preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

Job Duty 6 -
Maintain laboratory equipment.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications.
